Castrate Daire? Or breed?

Postby Pacifice on Mon May 11, 2009 9:35 am

Ok, i bred my first horse with a Irish Hunter, and got this horse.
http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=6482025 He is quite pretty, but I was wondering if you think i should keep him intact for breeding or castrate him?

Hello!!
I don't really know much but my instinct would be to try to blup him to 100 before offering coverings. There are 100 blup horses out there with coverings available for only 200e so I don't think your boy would be much competition!
like i say, I don't know much so I'm sure some of the others will be able to give you better advice!!

well, your boy is a cross, so That really limits who would be interested in coverings from him. There are players that mix breeds, so if you really want to use him for coverings you should look for people now who would be interested in him.

He is a three star which is good and you've done alot of training with him. He does need his wins though to get to 100 blup. The majority of players want the stallion blupped before they even consider him.

It really depends on you and if you want to keep him.
You can tell a gelding, you can ask a stallion, but you must discuss it with a mare.

No, I was just wondering if I should in the future breed him or castrate him so he has some added points to help him win races.

If you train him right there should be no problem getting his wins. make sure to do the short rides to gain in speed before you start the comps. That should give you enough of a bonus that you don't have to geld.

If you really want to breed him, I say go head leave him as he is, but if you'd just like to do comps & have him as a pet I'd stay go head and geld him. Personally, I use my geldings (my lower GP younger studs with 7 stars or under (That I don't sell)) as my "guinea pigs" to critique my training plan & how to improve my ponies.

But the choice is totally up to you! You can keep him a stallion if you'd like, but if you don't ever plan on breeding him I say geld him right away (before it's too late), it'll give him a nice bonus & you can use him to win you $$$ in comps. :)

If that was me, I wouldnt geld him. Sure the bonuses are nice, but if you ever do get him to positivem 100 BLUP I would love for him to cover some of my "mixer" breeds. He's a nice boy but its really up to you whether you want to keep him like that......

Haha! I would geld him, to be honest with you. But like I said, it's what ever you want him to be :)
