Castration is the process by which you render your stallion unable to produce offspring. It is exactly like Neutering your dog or cat.

When a stallion is castrated he is then referred to as a gelding.
In real life, geldings are calmer, safer, more sane, and easier to work with than stallions. To represent this: in the Howrse game, geldings are given large bonuses for competitions.

Castration in NOT a reversible process, even if you clicked the button accidentally.

In the game castration can only be performed between certain ages, at this time i don't know what they are precisely, so I'll let someone fill in that blank for me. :)

(coped from the breeder's manual)
You can have your males castrated between the age of 2 and a half and 6. Your horse will become a gelding, he will not longer be able to reproduce but will earn the following bonuses: stamina: +8, speed: +8, dressage: +4.
Note that you cannot give Zeus's lightning bolt to a gelding and castration is not reversible.
