My mare is giving birth and i'm out of money!

Postby lexio2 on Mon Aug 06, 2007 3:39 am

This is probably the number 1 most asked question.

If your mare is due to give birth today and you already completed an action on her page the first thing to try is to go to the store. There is a small link that says "sell to Mr. Hubert" Go there and sell anything you can. IF this is not enough money then you are out of luck. Plan better next time.

If you did NOT perform any actions with your mare yet, then you may be safe. Your mare will not yet age and if you have other horses you will get paid, you can sell their poo, and participate in lessons to get money.

If you only have one horse, sorry. better planning next time.

Remember, the ultra sound is OPTIONAL.

Couldn't you also do this?

Postby Izzy_B on Tue Aug 14, 2007 7:39 am

Couldn't you also put your horse in the trades for a super high price that no-one in their right mind would pay for? After all, the horse won't age for those three days, therefor the foal's birth would be delayed the extra three days, giveing you time to get money from your job. Right?

And, if you can't pay the vet, don't you loose a karma point? In wich case you can't access the auctions until you are at zero again. So in that case, wouldn't it just be better to sell the horse while its pregnant, get the money, and buy a new horse if the current one is one that doen't have good stats?

You could, but your scenario gives the players an excuse for not planning ahead and not finding out what went wrong.

They should be learning from the mistake not just finding an easy way out.

Yes the sales are plausible. I would rather they figure out a way to save and keep their foal then sell later if GP is low.

How do you mean an excuse? Or do you simply mean a way out of their just deserts?

Am I right in saying that usualy the people who are back pedeling while having this problem tend to be new players? If they'd loose a karma point, wouln't it just be better for them to restart the game, from skratch, and work the horse to where it was before? I supose that it teaches them their lesson from a lack of planing, and makes them work just as hard to get their horse to wher it was.

Also, I was wondering, if a person does start their game over, do they get the same starter age points that they did when they were brand new? I have not had to restart, and don't plan to, so I don't know. But I was just wondering.

This is what happens when a player restarts.

If you restart your game, you will lose all your horses, job and gallops, membership time, karma points, passes and your reserve will return to its initial value (2 000).

You can only restart your game once every 5 days.If you have a karma less than -3, this will not be returned to 0, but will keep its old value.

To me, this is a better option for the new player. As you say it helps them learn from their mistakes.
Alot of them are very young though, so the negative karma means nothing to them. I have even had them ask me why is that important.

Ha! I have younger twin sis's playing, and they stink at reading directions. I think they would be like that to.

Just one thing: Your horses DO age when they are in the auctions! I have watched sales of pregnant mares who have only one day until they give birth, and:
Day one: 10 months
Day two: 12 months
Day three: No baby
I don't know if anyone's karma goes down, though...

horses only age on days when actions have been completed with/on/to them. At most horses will only age at the time of the update the first day they are put into auction, it is impossible for them to age further than that.

I don't know what horse you were looking at.... but unless it was when the glitches were going on it shouldn't have happened.

So that's why I saw a few horses listed at 50,000eq at the auction! I was wondering. When I got curious and checked out these horses' pages and they weren't that great.
I didn't understand why someone would try to sell mediocre horses for such a large sum...now it makes sense!

Another way you can get money fo foal is to wait until you can and then buy a pass with some of the money from your reserve. If you have enough money to credit your reserve you should have no problem getting money to foal.
My arabian can run barrels faster than your quarter horse! Ride arabian, whats riding without some attitude?
