An affix is the orange italic words at the end of many horses' names. They belong to a specific breeder and cannot be changed by new owners. It is a way to say "hey, i bred this horse". In order to reserve an affix for yourself you have to have 2 karma points for each affix you want to have. Go to your breeding farm's office and click the small link at the top of the page that says "My Affixes"

You hold down alt and type a number. I haven't seen a page with a chart of the alt and numbers.

But here has a place with the html charts.

Also, if your computer allows you to do so, you can simply copy and paste the symbol you like into an afix, a forum, or even a Howrse's name !
