One last thought everyone. I have found lately that I get much better inbred skills with or without tears if I do absolutly nothing with the mare in the way of rides, comps, or lessons for the ENTIRE gestation. My foals inbred skills with the tears have gone from 105 to 115 using this method.

Dude's person: that would be a good plan but then if the horse doesn't have the philosipher's stone, you'll have an old horse loosing skills and health..........When my mare began to get old I put her in the safe haven a few months after it started because it's kind of frustrating watching them loose all their skills and stuff which you worked hard to make them gain.

SaddlebredLuver1, that is true it is frustrating to watch that happen. I can't buy passes at the moment so I use my older horses for money and passes at some point it gets exciting though because I know that I am getting closer to getting a pass. Ya it's a little morbid I guess but all good things must come to an end, and all energies must be used even if they are transformed. So you could look at it like a pass in honor of _____ (insert horses name here) to help out a younger horse.

Actually, Ckat, I think that's more to do with the mare/stallion's skills. I find the IS to be the same whatever I do with the mare–the IS and inborn Gp are calculated when the covering takes place.

P.S. And the parents' BLUP only affects the IS of the foal.

Well, it's also the amount of skills both parents have as well as the BLUP.

Hmmmm.......I'm going to try that, Ckat!
